The Tire Pressure Monitoring System is standard equipment in all new cars sold in the US.
The PTMS is a crucial safety feature that potentially saves lives by informing you of low tire pressure before it becomes a significant problem.
If you happen to see that light on the instrument panel, check all the tires, and adjust the pressure.
If one of the tires is damaged, it ha a nail or is leaking air, take it to your Dealer or Tire Shop for further inspection, replacement or repair.
See the picture below to locate the tire pressure specification label.
After adjusting the tire pressure, you will need to calibrate the TPMS, for most VW vehicles you will need to:
- Turn on the engine
- Press and hold the TPMS reset button for about 3 seconds (TPMS button is inside the Glovebox)
- TPMS light should be off by now
For newer models:
The procedure to reset the TPMS is slightly different:
- Press the CAR button in the Infotainment system (Radio area)
- Setup in the touchscreen
- Tires soft key
- SET function key
- Confirm
The TPMS light should be off by now.
